Akili Hires Arikan as VP to Lead Business Intelligence Practice

DALLAS, Texas (May 24, 2010) --
Akili, one of the fastest growing Dallas consulting firms in the enterprise performance management (EPM) and business intelligence (BI) segments, announced today the appointment of Tufan A. Arikan as Business Intelligence Practice vice president. Arikan will foster the company’s growing success within the BI solutions market segment. BI refers to the use of technology to collect and effectively use information to improve business performance.
Mr. Arikan has over 18 years of IT and consulting experience, with the last 13 years focused solely on BI and Data Warehousing. He has extensive knowledge of BI best practices and leading data warehousing methodologies in the Information Management area.

Mr. Arikan brings a wealth of experience to Akili’s team. He has played solution architect, program/project manager, and business analyst roles on his numerous and extensive project engagements. Mr. Arikan has firsthand experience with all leading BI tools and techniques including dashboards, scorecards, multi-dimensional ad-hoc analysis, predictive analytics and data mining solutions. His vendor experiences include SAP Business Objects, Microsoft, Oracle, Teradata and IBM. His various industry experience includes travel /leisure, telecommunications, airline/defense, oil/gas, and retail.
Prior to joining Akili, Mr. Arikan worked at Hitachi Consulting as the Southwest Market Data Warehouse Director working with clients including Kimberly Clark, Southwest Airlines, Chesapeake Energy, Pepsico/Frito-Lay and Northrop Grumman.
Mr. Arikan received master degrees in Physics from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and Engineering Physics from Ankara University. He also completed all but the dissertation for a dual Ph.D. in EE and Physics from UTD. In addition, Mr. Arikan has completed further business training from MIT Sloan School of Business, Dale Carnegie, and Franklin Covey.
